Summer often delivers a blend of relaxation and adventure — it’s a time to both savor a slower pace and dive into something new. And if you’re spending the season with Life Time, there are activities on both ends of the spectrum, with plenty of other options in between.
We’ve rounded up 24 ideas to add to your Life Time summer bucket list to help you make the most of these fleeting sunny days.
1. Get summer care at the LifeSpa. Self-care is important year-round, but the summer season presents new opportunities to care for your hair, skin, and nails. Could your hair use some TLC after swimming in chlorine? Does your skin need soothing from too much sun? Do you want your feet to stay sandal-ready? If you’re unsure where to start, book a complimentary hair or skin consultation in the Life Time app.
2. Enlist assistance with stretching. If you’re moving your body more or in new ways this summer, being intentional about your recovery can help you continue to feel your best. After a long hike or workout, or on your rest day, book a one-on-one assisted-stretch session with a Dynamic Stretch specialist. (You can book a 25- or 50-minute session in the Life Time app.)
3. Jump-start healthy nutrition habits with a 14-day D.TOX. Feeling the need for a nutritional reset? On June 15, Life Time begins its virtual 14-day D.TOX program, which takes a whole-foods-based approach and is led by Coach Anika Christ, RD, CPT, senior director of nutrition and weight loss at Life Time.
This program includes a complimentary virtual class, downloadable guide with a meal plan and recipes, and other resources to help you establish healthy habits. You also get access to a Facebook community where you can connect with other program participants who can hold you accountable. You can register online here.
4. Try a new-to-you studio, cycle, or yoga class. Group fitness classes can be an accessible starting point and an easy way to get in a fun, quick workout if you have a busy summer schedule. Select clubs also offer outdoor options like rooftop and poolside yoga, making it easy to simultaneously stay active and soak up the sunshine. (Register for classes in the Life Time app.)
5. Embrace the opportunity to just lounge. Find a spot poolside to unwind and destress on comfortable, cushioned lounge chairs, or reserve a full-service cabana for an elevated experience. Plus, enjoy complimentary towel service and order LifeCafe refreshments and bites poolside through the Life Time app.
And if you’re lounging poolside, double up on education and entertainment by queuing up Life Time Talks in your earbuds. This award-winning healthy-living podcast features conversations with experts that dig into a wide variety of health, fitness, and wellness topics.
6. Dial in your training. If warmer weather inspires you to get moving, pair that motivation with a one-on-one session with a Dynamic Personal Trainer. They can help you build strength, stay consistent, and train with intention all summer long. (Learn more: “Strong Summer: 6 Tips for Building Strength in the Sunny Season.”)
If you’re new to training, book a complimentary Intro to Dynamic Personal Training session in the Life Time app, or talk to any Dynamic Personal Trainer at your club.
If you book an Intro to Dynamic Personal Training session from June 1–28, a Dynamic Personal Trainer will provide a four-week program best suited for you based on your goals.
7. Take advantage of recovery tools. Following a workout or on a rest day, add a stop into the LT Recovery zone, often located near the workout floor. Here, there are options like Normatec compression therapy, CryoLounge heat and cold chairs, and HydroMassage lounge chairs. (Learn more: “How to Use 3 Popular Recovery Tools at Life Time.”)
8. Upgrade your gear. A lack of warm-weather workout wear or equipment for the activities you’ve been hoping to try (pickleball paddle or weighted vest, anyone?) shouldn’t keep you from your summer endeavors.
9. Work up a sweat in the pool. Water workouts can be a fun alternative to land-based exercise, especially when the weather is nice and you can do them outdoors. This low-impact movement can be beneficial for recovery and help diversify your training. Water applies a natural resistance, which means you’re always working your body in some way when you’re in the pool. Try these: “The Pool Workout” and “The Joint-Friendly Water Workout.”
10. Find a new favorite machine. The workout floor is expansive — and it can often be easiest to hop on your tried-and-true favorite machines. But who knows what else is out there that you may also love, or that may add new benefit to your regimen? Consider starting here: “4 Life Time Trainers Share Their Favorite Machine on the Workout Floor.”
11. Embrace mocktails. Enjoy a handcrafted mocktail featuring an LTH nutritional product that provides an extra health boost. Our favorites include the Blood Orange Marg-norita (featuring LTH Hydrate electrolytes); the Nourish Green Lemonade (featuring LTH Nourish multivitamin and greens); and the Rally Cherry Limeade Mojito (featuring LTH Rally Amino Recovery).
12. Join a workout class event. Two signature workout class events are making their return this summer: Summer Solstice, a club-wide celebration of yoga that marks the start of summer, takes place June 20, and AfterGlo, the end-of-season event that blends movement with mindfulness, will be held August 7–9. (Check your club schedule in the Life Time app for club availability and dates and to register.)
13. Measure what matters. The Active Metabolic Assessment measures your individual heart-rate zones plus your aerobic base, anaerobic threshold, and VO2 max so you can train smarter. The Resting Metabolic Assessment determines how many calories you burn at rest and if your body predominately burns carbohydrates or fat, so you can learn how to best fuel your body. Book either assessment in the Life Time app.
14. Pick up a pickleball paddle. Have you tried the sport seemingly everyone is now playing? Pickleball is a great way to have fun with others while staying active — and a number of Life Time clubs offer outdoor courts to play on. Members can enroll in a complimentary Intro to Pickleball class to learn the basics of how to play this popular sport. (Learn more: “How to Play Pickleball.”)
15. Get guidance through a training program. Calendars tend to be busy in the summer, and it can be helpful to have a training plan that can flex with your schedule. Seasonally, it can also be opportune to set a time-based goal to go after. There are a number of complimentary training programs — each offering various time commitments and centered around diverse outcomes — available in the “Workouts, Programs, and More” section of the Life Time app.
16. Hone your supplement regimen. Summer is a time when we often deviate from our usual healthy-eating plans. Feel better about filling any nutrient gaps with support from daily essential supplements like a multivitamin, fish oil, fiber, greens, and protein. LTH Hydrate electrolytes may also be useful to replenish what’s lost from summer sweat.
17. Try an aqua class. A favorite format for many older adults, aqua classes can help people of all ages and skill levels build strength and cardio endurance. ARORA Aqua, for instance, is a beginner-level, low-intensity offering.
18. Keep your classes on demand. Summer tends to be a time of increased travel and being on the go. Life Time’s library of on-demand fitness classes can help you stay active no matter where you are and no matter how much time you have. Classes include options for strength, cardio, stretching, yoga, barre, Pilates, active aging, and family, and can be found in the Life Time app. (Learn more: “6 Must-Try On-Demand Workouts to Boost Your Routine.”)
19. Cultivate a meditation practice. Meditation is proven to be good for both mental and physical health — plus, you can meditate anywhere, even poolside! Experts say that taking the practice outside can help activate your senses and make it easier to let go. Find a variety of guided meditations and breathwork exercises in the Life Time app.
20. Challenge yourself with an athletic event. Life Time owns and operates 30 premium running and cycling experiences that take place nationwide throughout the year. Choose one that’s taking place this summer or start your training now for one that’s happening later in the year. Find your event: “Choose Your Race: A Guide to Life Time’s 2026 Athletic Events.”
21. Explore the choices on the LifeCafe menu. Simplify healthy eating this summer by having the LifeCafe be your go-to for shakes, meals, and snacks.
22. Cool down or heat up. Looking to lower your body temperature on a hot day? Take a cold plunge. Want to embrace the summer heat? Sit in the sauna, steam room, or whirlpool. Heat and cold therapies — either used separately or in conjunction for an added challenge — are becoming more widely adopted as their potential health benefits are better understood.
23. Discover your training community. When the weather warms up, we’re often ready to get out of the house and socialize with others. And when you combine socialization with a workout, it can go a long way toward motivation and accountability.
Life Time offers four different signature group training classes that provide both progressive programming and community: GTX is a 50/50 blend of cardio and strength work; Alpha is centered around Olympic weightlifting and metabolic conditioning; Ultra Fit combines sprint-interval training with balance and strength efforts; and MB360 is a mind-body program that blends meditation and mobility work with functional strength and conditioning exercises. (Learn more: “Why Life Time Group Training?”)
24. Attend a social event. Spend your Fourth of July at Life Time’s Fire and Ice event or plan your Labor Day weekend around the Casa Playa Tulum-inspired night swim experience. Both events will feature themed food, cocktails, activities, and entertainment, as well as the chance to socialize with your fellow Life Time members.
Note: Offerings and amenities may vary by club location.
