Life Time’s eighth athletic country club in California opened in summer 2025: Life Time Arden. Located on a lush hillside in Sacramento, this club delivers Life Time’s best-in-class programming, spaces, and services, while building on the legacy of the former athletic and social club, which serviced the Sacramento community for nearly 70 years.

“This building has been here and served as a fitness facility since the 1950s and its legacy is strong,” says Liudmila Litvinova, lead general for Life Time Arden. “We want to preserve the property’s history, especially its heritage of being the practice grounds for high-caliber swim and tennis athletes.”

Let’s explore the 78,000-square-foot Life Time Arden space:

The sprawling outdoor space is fully remodeled and includes 10 pickleball courts and nine tennis courts. “This is the biggest offering when it comes to court availability in the area, for both pickleball and tennis,” says Litvinova.

And if you’re a family with kids interested in tennis lessons, Life Time Arden partnered with JMG Tennis Academy, a nationally recognized elite tennis academy with a highly regarded reputation for developing junior tennis players.

Water workouts and pool days are elevated here with three pools: an Olympic-sized 50-meter lap pool, a 25-yard lap pool, and a smaller pool for kids’ swim lessons. There is also a whirlpool.

The pool deck features an outdoor bar and bistro that serves poolside food and drinks for your relaxation and enjoyment. The clubhouse lounge and indoor bar are also accessible from the pool deck.

The swim team at Life Time Arden is led by Adric Jope, a senior swim coach with 15 years of experience coaching young athletes who compete on a national level.

“Our club is definitely attractive to top-notch swim and tennis athletes,” says Litvinova. “These gorgeous outdoor facilities are some of the main attractions at Life Time Arden.”

Heading inside the two-level club, you can find the Life Time ProShop, which offers a curated yet robust selection of athletic equipment and apparel, to the left of the front desk.

The luxurious men’s and women’s locker rooms, located on the first floor and second floor, respectively, are expanded and renovated with modern finishes and new daily-use lockers. There’s also the option of private executive lockers — a tradition grandfathered in from the former fitness and social club for members to have a designated locker space; these are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with an additional fee.

The locker rooms also have new spacious saunas and updated steam rooms.

On the second floor, you can find the expansive 17,000-square-foot workout floor featuring hundreds of pieces of brand-new equipment, including free weights, cardio- and resistance-training machines, and functional training equipment for all your fitness needs.

There are also dedicated spaces for GTX, Alpha, and Ultra Fit signature group training classes. “These group training spaces have more of an ‘exclusive feel’ as they’re slightly separated from the rest of the workout floor,” says Litvinova.

GTX is a 50/50 blend of cardio and strength work; Alpha is centered around Olympic weightlifting and metabolic conditioning; and Ultra Fit combines sprint-interval training with balance and strength efforts.

Dynamic Personal Trainers are available to guide and support members toward their fitness goals, while Dynamic Stretch specialists can provide assisted-stretch sessions to aid in members’ recovery efforts (both at an additional cost).

Also on the second floor, you can find a brand-new yoga studio — outfitted with radiant heat technology — where a variety of yoga formats, as well as MB360, are offered. The fourth class in Life Time’s signature group training portfolio, MB360 is a mind-body program that melds meditation and mobility work with functional strength and conditioning exercises.

Group fitness classes, like Reformer Pilates, are offered as well. These classes are taught by top performers with options for people of all fitness levels and interests.

The renovation will also include a Kids Academy area with a 2,600-square-foot space for children ages 3 months to 12 years. Kids will stay busy learning, playing, and growing with engaging and enriching age-specific programming and classes. Parents can use up to three hours of child care per day, included with a Junior Membership.

“Life Time Arden is a beautiful pocket inside the Sacramento neighborhood, and we want to carry forward the property’s rich history of championing a healthy way of life,” says Litvinova. “In all our spaces, we empower everyone, no matter their age, to live a healthier, happier life.”
