There are times throughout our fitness journeys that we need a concrete plan — one that’s designed by an expert and gives us day-by-day direction for how to tackle our workouts.
It’s our training team’s job to help bring this level of structure and support to life. Our newest feature coach who’s offering this support virtually for members is Nicholas Sandoval, one of Life Time’s in-club fitness professionals and a coach for Life Time’s suite of digital weight loss and training programs.
Sandoval is a wealth of knowledge, and one expert you’ll want to get to know. He brings a level of energy and expertise to shake up your routine in a way that’s both fun and time efficient.
You’ll be seeing a lot more of him now that his two signature programs — 30×30 and 6-Week Shred — have launched. Read on to get to know a little more about him.
Nicholas Sandoval, NASM CPT, NCSP CPT, NESTA CPT, and Specialist in Lifestyle Weight Management and Childhood Nutrition
Sandoval is based out of Life Time in Gilbert, Ariz. He worked as a physical education teacher for four years before becoming a personal trainer in 2010.
He’s no stranger to a healthy lifestyle and busy schedule, and lives by the mantra “work hard, train hard, live balanced.” He enjoys spending most of his time with his three children, Sparrow, Raven, and Wren, ages 9, 6, and 3, respectively.

What’s been your proudest moment as a trainer?
There are so many to choose from, but one of my favorite, most recent moments is coaching a client through a massive transformation goal. This included nearly 100 pounds of weight lost, getting cleared of all diabetes medication, and most importantly, moving freely and pain-free — which all took place before and after this client underwent a total knee replacement!
When you’re not training, what are some of your favorite activities or hobbies to do?
I’ve been a DJ since 2001. I’ve been on many tours and shows throughout the years. The skill now serves as a creative outlet for me. I’m able to send mixes out into the universe through my podcast, as well as use it as a fun way to connect and motivate my small group training clients.
What’s one thing you’d want everyone to know about health and fitness?
There are a million ways to achieve any goal, you just have to find the way that fits you best and understand that error and failure are a major part of the process. I think wellness is about balance and understanding where and how to find and build those millions of small victories that add up to a great big, beautiful life.
