This refreshing beverage can keep you cool when the weather heats up.
Popular throughout Mexico and Central America, aguas frescas are typically made by blending fruit, water, and a bit of sweetener. This version uses cucumbers for an extra-hydrating, ultra-refreshing summer drink.
- 3 cups cold water
- 3 cups chopped cucumber
- ¼ cup packed fresh mint
- 3 tbs. honey
- ¾ cup lime juice
- 1 tsp. lime zest
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, chopped
- Ice for serving
STEP 1
Place the water, cucumber, mint, honey, lime juice, lime zest, and ginger in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the mixture through cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer to strain the solids. Compost the scraps.
STEP 2
Serve the strained agua fresca over ice, with a sprig of mint or a lime wheel if desired.
