Just as we make efforts to eat well and move often, it’s equally important to also focus on habits that support our mental well-being. A healthy mindset not only improves our chances of reaching our goals but can also make our endeavors more enjoyable and help us cope with stress during difficult times.

Get inspiration for enhancing your routine from these four Life Time members who use our spaces and offerings to live a healthy way of life.

What’s your favorite way to work out at Life Time?

I enjoy the indoor cycle classes, but my favorite activity is lifting and then utilizing the other spaces the club has to offer, such as the pool and steam room. My wife, Randi, really likes the barre classes.

How does Life Time help you maintain a healthy mindset?

During these stressful times, Life Time has been my outlet to relax. It’s also given my family somewhere safe to go, which has been immensely helpful for all of us.

How do you and your family spend time together at Life Time?

We tend to view Life Time as our Saturday outing throughout the year. My daughter, Eve, loves the kids’ area and always asks if she can go to the club with me. We work out, go to the pool, and will often eat at the LifeCafe, too.

What’s your go-to Life Time product or service?

The Vuka sparkling energy drink from the LifeCafe — it actually works to give me energy because of the healthy ingredients.

Is there a Life Time tip or trick you could share?

Use your phone to scan in at the club versus fishing for your physical card every time. My second hack would be to purchase foldable hangers to keep your work clothes organized in the lockers.

What’s your One Positive Action for 2021?

I’m starting classes in January to pursue my MBA.

Larry and Barb

Up until two years ago, Larry and Barb were both working and trying to keep up with the demands of their melded family. Now that Larry is retired, they stay busy traveling to visit their geographically spread-out family of 19.

What’s your favorite way to work out at Life Time?

Barb loves to ice skate, but it’s been hard on her body with surgeries to her back, shoulder, and knee. She does stretching and Pilates at Life Time, which have been critical for her to be able to return to the ice and maintain a relatively pain-free and active lifestyle.

I’m dedicated to alternating upper- and lower-body weight training with cardio. I also make stretching and foam rolling part of every one of my workouts.

How does Life Time help you maintain a healthy mindset?

There’s no doubt that it’s occasionally a struggle to make ourselves go workout, but we are always so glad we did. Every time we go to Life Time, we leave the club with a new lease on life, which has been more important than ever during this time of COVID-19.

How do you and your family spend time together at Life Time?

Our older grandkids enjoy the gym and climbing wall, but the pool is the place where we all connect and make memories together.

What’s your go-to Life Time product or service?

We love being able to get a healthy and delicious protein shake from the LifeCafe. We also purchase all our hair products from the LifeSpa.

What’s your One Positive Action for 2021?

To develop discipline around nutrition habits that we were more relaxed about during the holidays. We are both hoping to lose a few pounds as we know it will help us feel better and improve our attitudes.

What’s your favorite way to work out at Life Time?

I love the group fitness classes. It’s so motivating to have someone structure a fantastic workout for you and cheer you on. It also makes such a difference to have others around you who are also working hard. It’s tough to create a workout on your own, but it’s not tough to sign up for a class.

How does Life Time help you maintain a healthy mindset?

Life Time offers a great community. There are people who can keep you accountable and help you work hard — it gives you a sense of unity. I really appreciate all of the group fitness instructors who give positive encouragement throughout the entire workout. It makes such a difference to get your mind in the right place as you push your body to its limits. I carry the things they say with me through the rest of my day.

How do you and your family spend time together at Life Time?

My mom and I go to classes together. Our favorites are Barbell Strength, FIRE yoga, or any of the barre classes. We get to spend quality time together while also keeping ourselves healthy and fit. Having an accountability partner makes a huge difference in motivating me to get to the club.

What’s your go-to Life Time product or service?

The post-workout shakes at the LifeCafe are amazing. Honestly, it’s the only thing I’m thinking about in the middle of a tough workout — just 15 more minutes and I’ll have a shake in my hands!

Is there a Life Time tip or trick you could share?

Plan out all of your group classes or workouts a week in advance and put them in your calendar. That way it’s a lot easier to build your schedule around your workout. Also, park in the far end of the parking lot, then the little walk from your car to the door — or vice versa — is part of your warm up or cool down.

What’s your One Positive Action for 2021?

To enjoy every moment. I feel like 2021 might come with a lot of waiting and I don’t want to focus on where I would rather be, but instead where I am right now. Working out is easily the best way to do that. When you’re doing burpees, you’re thinking about how much your legs and shoulders are killing you — not work, previous arguments, or car payments. I love every second of those moments.

Rebecca

Rebecca has been active throughout her entire life. She was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader for many years, which led her to develop a passion for health and fitness.

What’s your favorite way to work out at Life Time?

I love the SHRED virtual workouts that I can do through the Life Time app. The workouts are short yet effective — perfect for days when you have a busy schedule!

How does Life Time help you maintain a healthy mindset?

Life Time enables me to carve out time to focus solely on my workouts. When I enter, I leave my stress at the door.

How do you and your family spend time together at Life Time?

My boyfriend and I enjoy working out together at Life Time. We complete the Basic Daily Strength workouts together.

What’s your go-to Life Time product or service?

My favorite service is the RSQ massage at the LifeSpa — it helps relieve any tightness I have. I also enjoy the shakes from the LifeCafe. I get the Vegan PB&B Shake, but I substitute chocolate whey protein in instead.

What’s your One Positive Action for 2021?

I want to practice gratitude daily and always say yes to an adventure.
