A bowl of tzatziki.

A simple marinade of olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic — and even a dash of lemon or lime juice — would work well on the chicken for any of these recipes. You can also try the included seasoning suggestions for each. Grill your chicken and once fully cooked, drizzle the chosen sauce over it or use the sauce as a dip. These sauces also pair well with chicken cooked on the stove or in the oven or slow cooker.

These recipes are excerpted from Life Time’s first-ever cookbook, 1-2-12.

Honey Mustard

Marinate the chicken with olive oil, some honey and mustard, and a touch of cayenne.

  • 1/4 cup avocado-oil-based mayo
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar

Thai Chili

Season the chicken with salt, pepper, garlic, and ginger.

  • 1 cup sunflower seed, almond, or cashew butter
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  • 2 tbs. rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sriracha
  • 1 tbs. honey
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • Water, as needed, to thin for desired consistency

Marinate the chicken with olive oil, garlic, and oregano.

  • 1 cup plain yogurt (unsweetened coconut milk yogurt if dairy-free)
  • Juice of 1 lemon, plus half the zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbs. fresh dill, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cucumber, finely diced
  • 1/4 tsp. Himalayan or Celtic salt

Consume within three days due to the cucumber.
