The urban footprint of Life Time continues to grow: Life Time Midtown is the newest athletic country club to open in New York City, and the team is excited to meet new members and support them on their healthy way of life journey.

Life Time Midtown is located just one street away from Billionaires’ Row and three streets from Central Park. “The club is in such a cool area and it’s so central,” says Sarah Guyon, general manager at the location. “Pretty much every major subway line is accessible within a couple of blocks. This metropolis is a huge culture and arts hub, hosts the headquarters of dozens of large-scale companies, and is home to some of the city’s most prominent buildings. I’d guess that there are nearly 400,000 people coming in and out of this part of town every day.”

Life Time Midtown shares its space with a luxurious condominium building and is set inside a neighborhood that’s among the most desired zip codes in New York City. “The residents in this area are focused on experiences and Life Time will be a perfect oasis for them,” says Guyon.

Let’s check out this 28,000-square-foot escape, just steps away from the hustle and bustle:

Life Time Midtown Entry Way

The athletic country club features multiple fitness studios where members can take a variety of classes. There are dedicated studios for indoor cycle, Pilates, yoga, and Barre, as well as one for all other studio-format group classes.

“It was important to us, when we were planning the opening of this club, to learn about the wants of our future members,” explains Guyon. “We found that this is a group of people who are very interested in and center their fitness efforts around classes and studio-type programming. We’re so excited to expose them to the best-in-class programming that Life Time offers.”

A membership at Life Time Midtown includes complimentary access to signature group training classes in three different formats: GTX, Alpha, and Ultra Fit. Each of these formats offers progressive programming, a supportive community, and guidance from expert coaches.

“There is a robust class schedule at Life Time Midtown,” says Guyon. “Between studio classes and signature group training classes, we have a goal of having at least 100 classes available each week.”

Life Time Midtown workout floor

The expansive workout floor spans two levels, across which you’ll find a wide range of top-of-the-line exercise equipment and machines. “There is a beautiful, grand staircase that connects the cardio floor to the strength floor, allowing members to focus on and seamlessly travel between areas for their desired workout intentions,” says Guyon.

Newer to Life Time is Dynamic Personal Training, an entirely new way to experience personal training. “My hope is for Midtown to set the tone for Dynamic Personal Training at Life Time in New York City,” says Guyon. “I can’t wait to bring dynamically engaged training to our members and offer them the highest caliber of fitness professionals in the neighborhood. The training team here supports our members, helping them achieve their desired results, and champion their healthy way of life.”

She continues, “We’ve compiled a top-notch group of team members to provide the highest quality experience to members. Our member concierge team is able to meet members’ needs exceptionally well, and they are trained to anticipate needs before members realize they may require direction or assistance in a certain area. We’re excited to bring that level of luxury hospitality to Midtown.”

Life Time Midtown Indoor pool

Members can make use of the three-lane indoor lap pool and find relaxation in the whirlpool. “As people continue returning to an in-person work environment, I anticipate there being three waves of club traction throughout the day,” explains Guyon. “I’m predicting a steady stream of members taking early morning classes before work, people joining us over lunchtime for a swim, sauna, or steam, and then a post-work crowd getting in a stress-relieving workout after a busy day before heading home.”

How did you get introduced to Life Time?

The first time I had ever been to a Life Time was when I visited our Berkeley Heights location in New Jersey as a guest of a member. I was amazed by how immaculate the club was.

The entire row of squat racks was what really caught my eye, though. I’ve worked at gyms where they only had two squat racks, but this club had eight full-sized racks, which truly impressed me.

I also noticed that the organized layout of the club made it easy for me to hop from one machine to the next, maximizing my workout effectiveness. It was also the first time I had ever seen a fitness club with a full-sized outdoor pool deck and giant waterslides!

What brought you to Life Time Midtown?

When I discovered that Life Time was coming to New York City, I was so excited to apply. I’ve always had a passion for fitness, and Life Time’s mission is strongly aligned with my own personal values. For those reasons, I knew I wanted to work for Life Time.

I’ve worked in the fitness industry for five years, but started with Life Time in April 2021 as an account manager on the new club opening team at Life Time NoHo. I assisted with the club’s full life cycle, from presale through the grand opening of the club and supporting on a day-to-day basis following.

At Midtown, I’ll be working as a senior membership concierge team member, and I’ll be providing friendly and inviting experiences for Life Time members to make them feel at home. I love that I have the opportunity to create a fun fitness community with members and team members, where we can motivate each other to live a happy and healthy lifestyle.

With my previous experience at NoHo, I’m ready to take on new challenges and utilize my skills and expertise to help hit the ground running at Midtown. It will be a much bigger club (six floors!) filled with numerous amenities and is going to be absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to meet our new Life Time members and create extraordinary moments!

What’s your connection to Life Time’s healthy way of life mission?

Living a healthy way of life is what keeps me mentally and physically sane. I love making an impact on others by helping individuals reach their personal fitness goals and improve their health.

I currently work with one of our top trainers and follow a customized program where I strength train four to five times a week. I enjoy hitting new personal records and setting fitness goals for myself, which helps me gain confidence and balances me out.

I also love participating in our Life Time signature studio classes. My favorites are HIIT, Pilates, yoga, Gluteus Maxout, and UPPER Rx! The classes are a fun way to switch it up when you’re feeling less motivated to exercise solo.

How did you get started with Life Time?

I first joined Life Time as a member in April 2018. I recall being amazed at how friendly and welcoming everyone was and how strong the atmosphere was. It wasn’t long until Life Time had become a second home for me. It gave me an opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals and make new friends.

One year later, I decided Life Time was a place I thought I would enjoy working. I enjoyed it so much that I made a career out of it, and now I love what I do each and every day. There is a such a strong sense of community between members and team members with one overarching goal: empowering everyone to live a healthy life. Upholding this standard and having it align closely with my morals gives me a great sense of creating a positive impact on those around me.

What brought you to Life Time Midtown?

I was an assistant of operations at Life Time Bergen County for two years before transitioning into a facility operations leader role at the grand opening of Life Time NoHo. It was truly special being part of the third location to open in the New York City area in May 2021.

I will continue in the facility operations leader position but now at Life Time Midtown. I envision this location to quickly become an addition to the list of iconic attractions that the area holds. My personal favorite part is being just a few blocks away from Central Park.

What’s your connection to Life Time’s healthy way of life mission?

I believe living a healthy way of life is a key element to truly being happy. I emphasize to those around me that being healthy is not simply about being physically fit, but emotionally healthy and spiritually healthy, too. I believe living a healthy way of life also means pursuing and accomplishing attainable goals you set for yourself.

I try my hardest to be the best version of myself every day. There are two sayings that I commonly reflect on: “Everything happens for a reason” and “Anything is possible.” Through my journey over the past few years, my goal is to help others achieve their goals in any way I can.
