“Just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it.”

As a health and fitness coach, I’ve heard this statement more times than I can count. And often, it’s coming from those who have a deep desire to get healthier and who have tried different approaches in the past to no avail.

The truth is, when it comes to being successful with any exercise plan and seeing results, I always encourage clients to make their plan as easy-to-implement and convenient as possible — while still making sure it’s effective.

Here are some characteristics to consider when choosing a plan:

  • Accessibility: Does the program require equipment? Is it best done in a fitness facility or can it be done at home? Make sure you can execute the plan based on where you’re going to be exercising.
  • Timing: How many days can you commit each week to exercise? What workout duration fits into your schedule? It’s important to think through what’s realistic up front before you even begin.
  • Variety: Is the program built to keep you engaged and challenged? Or do you see yourself getting bored? While you don’t have to enjoy every single part of the plan, the process overall should be satisfying and keep you wanting more.
  • Effectiveness: How balanced is the design of the programming? Is it put together in a mindful way to help drive results, including days that push you and days to recover? Bringing together exercises of high, moderate, and low intensities is one of the best ways to elicit results.
  • Scalability: Can the program be adjusted to be easier or harder, depending on your starting point? Beginning a program that’s appropriate to your fitness level can help you avoid frustration once you’re in it.

Five Characteristics, One Plan

Life Time’s 5/40 Fit app-based exercise program was designed with the five factors above in mind: it delivers a fun, high-variety, modifiable, and results-driving routine that can be done anywhere.

The 5/40 Fit program was put together specifically for the person who just wants to press play and be told (and shown) what to do through engaging, instructor-guided videos.

The program and workouts were created and are led by some of Life Time’s most well-known, dynamic, entertaining, and expert instructors. You’ll notice the similar high-energy vibe and sense of accomplishment you get from a group workout class, but delivered in a progressive program that can be tailored to your goals and schedule.

What to Expect From 5/40 Fit

The 5/40 Fit program is delivered through the Life Time app. It spans four weeks, with each week featuring five different 40-minute coach-led video workouts options. Each workout has a different theme, intensity, and style format to both challenge your body and ensure you never get bored.

The formats you’ll see workouts centered around include power, strength, cardio endurance, recovery yoga, and barre fusion fun. Each of these format options individually progress week over week to help you gradually build your fitness and conditioning. The only equipment required are dumbbells and a versa loop.

The plan comes with a downloadable program guide to help you customize the program based on whether you’re a beginner or intermediate exerciser, as well as includes tips and tricks on which workouts to prioritize based on your goals. Whether you’re looking to lose body fat or improve exercise performance, you’ll know exactly which formats to do and how often to do them.

The guide also highlights the most important nutrition priorities to focus on to drive results, along with including each of the coach’s favorite shake recipes.

Meet the 5/40 Fit Coaches

One standout feature of the 5/40 Fit program are the coaches. Each coach leads one of the five different formats of the program based on where their greatest expertise lies.

This specific group of instructors not only makes you feel like you’re part of their personal workout sweat squad, but they’ll keep you laughing and empower you with expert tips and knowledge. Each class, they’ll also visually guide you through variations to either modify the movements or add challenge to them, depending on what you’re looking for.

Think of them as your own expert personal training team.
