The program, for me, has been an overwhelming success! I had looked at it a number of times, but never decided to partake due to time, a lack of knowledge, and fear, thinking the food would be unappetizing and the shakes would taste like chalk.
Well, during these most unusual times, I definitely had the time, gained some knowledge, and decided it probably was worth the gamble regarding the shakes tasting “chalky,” so I decided to sign-up — one of my best decisions ever!
When the COVID-19 crisis began and before I began the D.TOX program, I purchased a scale for our home, as I was in the habit of weighing myself daily at Life Time. The scale read 261.2, a couple of pounds higher than my last time at Life Time. This morning, after strictly adhering to the program and enjoying the most delicious recipes, the scale read 246.8. Most importantly, I have never felt better.
My plan going forward is to continue what I’ve been doing (I just ordered the Vanilla Maintenance Shake) while increasing my physical activities.
I’ve noticed the positive change of having more natural energy without the caffeine and I love that! I also love the control I feel over the choices I make in the kitchen. My cravings have diminished a lot, so I can make better choices regarding what to cook. I love all the vegetables!

The program was fantastic and it continues to pay great dividends! On March 16, 2020, my last day at Life Time prior to the closure, my weight was 258.7, and I felt fortunate if it dipped to 255.0. I’m super excited that I completed the full D.TOX! I’m going to add non detox food slowly, limit coffee and alcohol to a couple days a week, and avoid sugar as much as possible. This was a success because my husband, 20-year-old son, and I did this together. My husband initially read all the materials and proposed it to me. I then proposed to my son to join us. We started off with a family meeting going over the materials you provided. I also had developed our menu and everyone had to buy into it. One thing I would do differently is prep the week before — I didn’t realize how important that was.
Our son found it hard the first two days; preparing would have helped. It was a big change for him. I prepared meals in advance so it was easy for them to have meals to select from. My son even took lunch to work. I signed up in the past, but never committed because the meals in the detox cookbook were too advanced for me. I typically only prepare simple meals because that’s what they like. Here’s the funny part: The first couple days the meals were simple — chicken, salmon, or tuna with mixed veggies and a starch. My son couldn’t handle it, so I ended up preparing some of the detox recipes, which were tasty and actually didn’t take a lot of time to prepare.
My energy was high. I drunk lots of water. We were all focused and committed. The product was yummy as well. I lost some weight. What I didn’t do was exercise. What I learned was that slowly reintroducing is important. I had eggs, gluten, and sweets too soon. I noticed that my arthritis in my knee was bothering me; probably inflammation from these items. Also, restless the first couple days when I stopped. I will go back on paleo. This detox helped to reset me and it’s something I will try at least twice a year. My son noticed that eating bread causes him to feel bloated; detox helped him discover this. My husband had emailed you about doing the program again. He clearly saw the benefits. We all felt good during the program and it was fun doing it together.
