How to Grow Your Community at Life Time

New friendships, stronger social health, and a real sense of belonging all start with showing up at the club.

Friends smiling and laughing together.

Expanding your social circle rarely happens by accident once you hit adulthood. Between work, family, and a packed calendar, the connections that once came easily now take real intention. Somewhere along the way, a quick “let’s catch up soon” turns into a text you meant to send weeks ago, and the people you’d love to see more often stay just out of reach.

If this sounds familiar, there’s good news: Connection may be closer than it seems. At Life Time, community tends to grow around the things you already do: the class you return to each week; the whirlpool wind-down in the evenings; the shake that refuels you after a workout. Through the simple rhythm of doing what you love and caring for your health, you can make genuine connections that enrich your life beyond the walls of the club.

To help you find your people, we rounded up several ways to connect with community at Life Time.

1. Commit to recurring rituals.

It’s easiest to grow your community when you build it around consistency. For example, when you show up for the same class every Tuesday, hop on the same cardio machine each morning, relax in the sauna on Friday nights, or join a weekly pickleball game, you become a regular — and the regulars notice each other. A quick hello can turn into a conversation, and with time, familiarity can give way to genuine connection.

Other people are already showing up; you just have to choose a ritual that fits into your routine and meet them there.

2. Join a social club.

If you’re looking for a purposeful way to connect with like-minded people, consider a social club. LT Social is Life Time’s latest community-forward offering: a social membership designed to give members more opportunities to connect through experiences that bring wellness, hospitality, culture, and, most importantly, people together.

LT Social amplifies the energy already found at Life Time on a larger stage, with a brighter spotlight and exclusive events held at some of its most distinctive club locations across the country.

Applications to join LT Social are now open; you can join the waitlist in the Life Time app. LT Social members will receive regular updates, so they always know when local, regional, and national events are happening. (Learn more: “Introducing LT Social.”)

3. See classes as connection points.

Group fitness classes are some of the easiest places to meet people at the club. Everyone in the room chose the same class at the same time for a shared goal. That means you already have something in common with the person on the mat next to you — and a simple “hello” rarely feels out of place.

Your instructors make it easier, too. They learn names, notice when you show up, and acknowledge your progress. That kind of recognition helps the room feel familiar, and it often turns a class you attend into a group you belong to.

4. Use your guest passes.

As a Life Time member, you can share club amenities with your current community via the guest passes included in your membership. Bring a family member or friend for a workout or to show them around your favorite spaces. These simple moments can turn into memories and help your relationships grow.

Guest passes also open the door to professional connections through face-to-face time. You might take a client to lunch or invite a colleague out for a round of golf, but why not bring them to Life Time instead? A game of pickleball, a recovery session, or an unhurried conversation over coffee and a healthy meal can help build rapport. Life Time’s premium, elevated spaces are designed to leave a lasting impression on anyone you choose to bring to the club.

5. Join a program with a shared goal.

People often connect when they are working toward something together. It could be completing a training program, participating in a sports league, or training for a race or another activity or challenge. These shared goals build camaraderie and give you a reason to keep showing up for one another.

You can cheer each other on, compare notes after a tough session, and watch your crew get stronger. For example, join a pickleball league and build friendly rivalries that can turn into real friendships. Or train for an endurance event and support each other all the way to the finish line.

You can also sign up for a fitness challenge that offers solid support, a built-in training plan, and thousands of others right by your side. Life Time offers several of these throughout the year, including 30 Strong, 60XT, and Holiday Hustle.

The goal gives you direction; the people inspire you to keep moving toward it.

6. Step outside your normal routine.

Your community might be in a room you haven’t walked into yet. When you try something new, you often meet someone new. For example, if you typically stick to the workout floor for strength training, try a GTX or Alpha class and meet like-minded lifters. If you love yoga or low-impact workouts, try branching out into other mind-body formats.

If you’re feeling unsure about what options might be best for you, ask any instructor, Dynamic Personal Trainer, or other club team member for a recommendation. You can also invite a friend along, so your first time in a new space feels a little less intimidating.

The same goes for places beyond the studio or workout floor. Connection has a way of finding you in the LifeCafe, on the pool deck, in recovery spaces, at a club event, or while you work from the Life Time Work Club Lounge. The more corners of the club you explore, the more chances you have to meet people. And those people might just become your people.
