Open since 2010, Life Time Kingwood — located in the Houston metropolitan community of Humble — is undergoing a major renovation, which is set to be unveiled in fall 2024. “We’re excited to bring these new, beautiful spaces to our loyal, existing members, along with new members we hope will become inspired to pursue their healthy-way-of-life endeavors at our athletic country club,” says Jenny Ingram, lead general at Life Time Kingwood.
The renovations are happening in phases, so the club can remain open during the updates. “I can’t wait for our members to experience the club when its completely finished,” says Ingram. “It’s a renewal of our athletic spaces throughout the club and will offer additional opportunities for members to experience Life Time offerings and programming — we’ll be bringing in even more incredible performers to teach classes and support members in their health journeys, too.”
Let’s check out some of the notable changes to this 53,642-square-foot club space:
The entire workout floor is being transformed. There is a new devoted area for Alpha group training, complete with 15 lifting racks among other new equipment. This creates space for a more open-concept fitness area, as the club’s original Alpha space is converting to a free weight zone on the workout floor.
There is also a renovated studio for GTX and Ultra Fit training classes. “This studio might be my favorite space in the club,” says Ingram. “I teach GTX and cannot wait to both teach and take classes in this signature group training space.”
Members can also experience a completely refreshed cardio-training area, along with dedicated Pilates spaces — one for private sessions and one for groups — with the addition of 10 new reformers.
Brand new to this club is an LT Recovery zone where members can try compression therapy and hydromassage among other recovery-related tools.
The indoor pool deck is getting a full makeover too with the addition of a sauna and whirlpool. These are great options for warming up or unwinding after a swim in the pool.
In 2023, Life Time Kingwood added 21 outdoor pickleball courts — 20 regular courts and one championship court — near the club. “Our pickleball courts are about two miles away from our main club,” says Ingram. “We are pleased to offer access to the pickleball courts to all our Kingwood members as part of their membership.”
Other areas of the club that members know and love to use are staying the same:
- “The indoor walking track, which is unique to this club, is very popular among members, especially those who wish to get in a walk while escaping the outdoor heat”, says Ingram.
- The express LifeCafe continues to offer shakes and grab-and-go meals for post-workout refueling.
- The steam rooms in the locker rooms are a go-to option for post-workout relaxation. The locker rooms also feature showers, fresh towel service, daily locker use, and a variety of complimentary amenities, including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
- The Kids Academy is home to an infant area, kids’ gym, art space and learning lab, and play maze. Kids ages three months to 11 years can learn, play, and grow with the engaging and enriching age-specific programming and classes. Parents can use up to 2.5 hours of child care per day, included with a Junior Membership. “Our Kids Academy hosts events all the time!” shares Ingram. “They’re always centered around fun themes, too. For example, we just hosted a glow-in-the-dark yoga party.”
To Ingram, Life Time Kingwood is a family. “Our club is tucked in the middle of a community that’s been here for years — and this community has weathered a lot,” she says. “We went through Hurricane Harvey in 2017, for example. But we stay close knit. This club has something extra special about it. It’s like no other club I’ve been to.”
