In early 2024, Life Time Denver West will open as the seventh Life Time in Colorado. “This club is in an incredible and convenient location,” says Jill Shusterman, lead general at Life Time Denver West. “It’s just a 20-minute drive from downtown Denver. And if you’re an enthusiast for skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, or biking — or any other sort of outdoor activity, really — it’s nestled right in the foothills of the mountains in the small town of Wheat Ridge, near Golden, Colorado.”
This athletic country club features dedicated class studios and training areas, an expansive workout floor, a Kids Academy, a LifeCafe, luxurious locker rooms, and more spaces for members to enjoy.
Let explore the 110,735-square-foot Life Time Denver West space:
Members can do their workouts in the indoor lap pool, and when the sun shines and temperatures rise, head outside to the lap pool, leisure pool, and water slides. This family-friendly area is ideal for making memories and being active together. Whenever hunger strikes, they can choose from an array of healthy options at the poolside bistro.
A variety of group fitness classes are offered in the club’s four dedicated studios: There’s one each for indoor cycle classes and Pilates classes, and two for all other exclusive-to-Life Time class formats.
Members can also take their training to the expansive workout floor, where there are offerings for all fitness preferences. Features include cardiovascular- and resistance-training machines, free weights, and stretching areas. This is also where they’ll find GTX, Alpha, and Ultra Fit signature group training classes (included in membership).
“Recovery will be really important to the members here, not only because it’s an essential aspect of exercise, but also because a lot of members will be endurance athletes given the demographic of the area,” explains Shusterman. “They’ll be excited to use all Life Time has to offer for recovery.”
These offerings include the LT Recovery zone, where members can connect with experts who are trained to provide direction, care, and support, and get access to high-tech recovery equipment and services. Options include compression therapy, metabolic testing, recovery treatments, nutrition counseling, and chiropractic services.
Members can also schedule assisted-stretch sessions with a Dynamic Stretch Specialist who can help them with their mobility and recovery efforts.
For recovery through massage or all other types of pampering, the LifeSpa team — included licensed massage therapists, stylists, and estheticians — provide a variety of services such as facials, manicures, pedicures, and hair and skin treatments.
Members can refresh in the luxurious locker rooms where amenities include the dressing areas, premium toiletries, terrycloth towels, showers, a eucalyptus steam room, a cedarwood sauna, a whirlpool, and a cold plunge.
The Kids Academy features a dedicated infant room, toddler area, multi-level play maze, tumbling studio, movement studio, arts and language studio, kids’ gym, and learning lab.
“You can grow up at Life Time Denver West,” says Shusterman. “From 3-months-old to adulthood, there’s something for everyone here. Children often mimic their parents and here, they’ll be doing so while experiencing dedicated classes and activities. It’s great encouragement for thriving in a healthy way of life.”
Parents can drop off their kids for up to 2.5 hours of complimentary child care daily while they use the athletic country club’s offerings. This is the time for parents to take a studio class, meet with a Dynamic Personal Trainer, treat themselves with a service at the LifeSpa, or grab a coffee in the LifeCafe with a friend.
Get to Know Your Lead General: Jill Shusterman
What is your experience with Life Time — and how did you get into this role as lead general?
I’ve worked with Life Time for almost five years in a senior general manager role. I have an authentic passion for leadership and my dedication to guiding and empowering teams has evolved into a driving force for success. It’s not just a role to me, but a heartfelt commitment to inspire teams toward their full potential.
What excites you about the opening of Life Time Denver West?
I’m excited to build a winning team. Fostering a sense of community for all and actively contributing to the success and growth of Life Time will be an exhilarating journey. The unparalleled programming and involvement in promoting a healthy way of life within our community is what truly makes each day inspiring and rewarding.
Why do you believe in a healthy way of life, and how do you incorporate that mission into your days?
I believe in embracing a healthy way of life because I find immense joy in being engaged and incredibly active in my daily routines. To me, vitality, boundless energy, and genuine connections with others are the cornerstones of a great life.
It’s challenging to play a significant role and make a meaningful impact on our world when you don’t feel your best, which is why I strive to be the best version of myself each and every day.
Is there anything people might be surprised to learn about you?
It might come as a surprise to some that I’m a voracious reader; I often read one to two books a week (most people don’t think I can sit still!). Additionally, I have a deep fascination with the intricate world of business and economics, particularly the influential figures shaping companies, and I love to read any available literature, listen to podcasts, or watch programming on the subject during my free time.
Do you have a favorite way to use Life Time?
My favorite way of being involved is through all aspects of our programming. I am actively involved in many of our classes. I also love my interactions with both team members and members, which allow me to foster a strong and connected environment within our community.
