Life Time Clarendon will be the sixth Life Time location in Virginia when it opens in summer 2023 — and the first of its kind in the city of Arlington. This athletic country club features dedicated class studios and training areas, an expansive workout floor, a Kids Academy, a LifeCafe, luxurious locker rooms, and more spaces for members to enjoy.
“In the city of Arlington, up until now, there hasn’t been a place that’s all inclusive where you can literally spend your entire day,” says Heather Wingfeld, general manager at Life Time Clarendon. “And this is especially true with our Life Time Work coworking space being located on the fourth floor above the athletic country club. From exercise and healthy eating to socialization, relaxation, child care, and work spaces, this place has it all.”
There’s a public parking garage on the premise for members to use, as well as a metro stop just blocks away. “This area is known for being very walkable, so we expect members to walk and bike to the club as well,” says Wingfeld.
Life Time Clarendon is set to offer notable features and amenities across its 84,800-square-feet (112,800 if you include Life Time Work!) of space. Let’s explore some of what’s to come at Life Time Clarendon:

There will be seven designated studio spaces: two for yoga, one for indoor cycling, one for Pilates, and one for barre, plus two for other studio-class formats. Members can try a variety classes — 90-plus classes will be offered on the schedule each week — including Warrior Sculpt, FLOW yoga, AMP cycle, and Gluteus Maxout. These and more are led by the area’s top instructors.
The expansive workout floor features state-of-the-art cardio and strength-training machines, free weights, functional-training tools, and a range of other fitness equipment. The workout floor is also arranged with designated spaces and equipment for our GTX, Alpha, and Ultra Fit signature group training formats.

If you have a child between the ages of 3 months and 11 years, the Kids Academy is a place for them to learn, play, and grow with kiddos their age. The Kids Academy team provides healthy, fun programming in a safe environment where kids can thrive.
“There’s nothing like this in the area,” says Wingfeld. “While there are boutique studios around, they don’t typically offer child care. At Life Time, as part of a junior membership, members can drop off their kids for up to 2.5 hours of complimentary childcare daily while they’re at the club. Parents often use this time to take a class, complete their routine on the workout floor, enjoy a spa treatment, unwind in the sauna, or grab a meal with a friend in the LifeCafe.”
Highlight activities for kids include tumbling, games on a sport court, and arts, crafts, and language. There are also designated infant and toddler areas.

Life Time Clarendon members have access to fresh towel service, daily lockers, and complimentary personal-care products including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available in the executive locker rooms. There, they can also find a cedarwood sauna, eucalyptus steam room, cold plunge, and whirlpool for all their relaxation and recovery needs.
This location houses a full-service LifeSpa, too; services include nail, body, hair, and skin treatments. “Located on the basement floor, the LifeSpa connects to the locker rooms for members’ convenience,” says Wingfeld. “These are really beautiful spaces.”

Life Time Work is an additional membership opportunity at this location. It’s located on the fourth floor of the building and features an expansive walk-around that offers panoramic views of Arlington.
“The great thing about this premier coworking space is that it gives you flexibility in how you structure your day,” says Wingfeld. “You can complete your workout whenever it suits your schedule, take advantage of stress-relieving amenities such as foam rolling, cold plunging, or the sauna, or stop by the LifeCafe for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack — and then head back to work and finish your day.”

What is your experience with Life Time — and how did you get into this role as general manager?
I joined Life Time in September 2022 after previously working in leadership in both the retail and fitness industries. I have to thank Emma Vacanti, one of our talent acquisition leads, for her support during the casting process and for helping me recognize that Life Time would not only be a great fit, but an extension of my experience.
What excites you about the opening of Life Time Clarendon?
I’m excited about bringing the healthy way of life to the Arlington area because of the need for a luxury club that delivers the best fitness programming and Dynamic Personal Training, and goes beyond that with a full-service resort experience.
With the walkability of the Clarendon area, I anticipate there will be a true community feel within the club. Whether our members choose to spend an hour or their full day with us, they can immerse themselves in everything Life Time Clarendon offers.
I truly believe that with the ability to become a member of Life Time Work and the opportunity to engage in rejuvenating experiences in our athletic country club, our members will be proud to call this Life Time their second home.
Why do you believe in a healthy way of life, and how do you incorporate that mission into your days?
I believe that to be the best version of ourselves, we have to find a way to support both our physical and mental well-being. I’m lucky enough to be able to do that at the place I work every day, which is an additional reason why Life Time was such a great fit for me.
I’ve recently added self-care time to my morning and evening routines. I’ll spend one part reading a new book and the other spending time with my dog outside. Maintaining a healthy way of life at work and at home has absolutely made the difference for me!
Is there anything people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love to learn and always try to immerse myself in something new each year. Since relocating to this area in 2022, I have earned certifications in group fitness and nutrition. My goal for 2023 is to learn more about my family history and travel to the areas they were from.
As a bonus for this year, I cannot wait to meet the members in our community who can tell me all the “must do’s” in the area!
Do you have a favorite way to use Life Time?
I definitely like to do a variety of activities at Life Time, so my routine varies. In a typical week, I’ll dedicate two days to working with one of our Dynamic Personal Trainers, and then I’ll also add in some of our signature programming like GTX training or cycling classes like AMP — it’s like a party on a bike!
I like to attend at least one yoga class per week and wrap up every workout with some time in our eucalyptus steam room. Life Time Clarendon also has a cold plunge pool that I cannot wait to add to my routine.
