Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Enjoy this summer staple without the added sugars often found in store-bought varieties.

  • Cook Time10 minutes
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbs. olive oil
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 2 tbs. liquid aminos
  • 5 tbs. balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tbs. raw honey
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tbs. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
STEP 1
In a small saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onion, garlic, and olive oil until translucent.
STEP 2
Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the remaining ingredients.
STEP 3
Allow the mixture to simmer for five minutes. Note: You can eliminate any small pieces of onion by blending the cooked sauce in a food processor for a smoother version.
STEP 4
Remove from heat and enjoy.
