The concrete jungle is famous for its continuous growth and change. This year and next, you’ll see Life Time as part of the expansion, as the organization adds new athletic country club destinations to one city block after the next — paving the way for more people to experience a healthy, happy way of (city) life.
One of those locations is Life Time One Wall Street, which is set to open fall of 2022.
“We’re still introducing New York City residents to everything we have to offer at Life Time,” says Mike Spiegel, senior general manager at Life Time One Wall Street. “Members will have access to countless fitness classes and training opportunities, spa and salon services, recovery tools, kids academy, healthy eats, and other luxurious amenities across our 73,000-square-feet of space.”
The area and the building itself make this location unlike any Life Time has built before. “We’re in a really cool part of the city, located in the financial district right across the street from the New York Stock Exchange — it’s very historic,” says Spiegel. “We’re also part of a beautiful residential complex that contains luxury, retail space. The building has origins as a bank, so you’ll notice there are original vaults throughout our club.
“Life Time will be the perfect addition to the financial sector,” Spiegel adds. “Business workers — or anyone for that matter — can really see an improvement in their life when they prioritize their health, and Life Time will make that option available and convient to them.”
Let’s explore the Life Time One Wall Street space:
The first stop for many at the club are our executive locker rooms, which are not only functional but also provide the perfect space for relaxation and tranquility. In addition to showers, locker areas, toiletries, and fresh, clean towels, members can unwind in the eucalyptus steam room, sweat in the sauna, and recover in the whirlpool.
Just steps away from the luxurious locker rooms is the LifeSpa. Allow yourself to be pampered with massages, skin treatments, hair color and cuts, manicures and pedicures, and more.
“This will be the first LifeSpa in New York City to offer hair services,” says Spiegel.
This location also features our first-ever Life Time Kids Academy in New York City. “We are super excited to bring this offering to families,” shares Spiegel. “There’s a part of our mission statement that reads, ‘Empower everyone to live a happy life.’ When we proclaim that, children are included.”
This space will include dedicated studios for movement, dance and yoga, language arts, and arts and crafts, as well as a kids gym, infant room, toddler area, and open play area. It also has offerings for all ages — from infants to tweens — and parents can take advantage of up 2.5 hours of child care daily while they use the club.
One Wall Street will feature two studio spaces for group studio format classes in addition to two yoga studios, one Barre studio, one cycle studio, and one Pilates studio. When not attending one of the amazing classes, members can venture onto the expansive workout floor for use of free weights, cardiovascular equipment, weight machines, connected technology, and the functional-training area.
“When I visited Life Time River North at One Chicago, I was inspired,” says Spiegel. “After my flight, I was experiencing some knee pain. I sat in the Normatech sleeves in the LT Recovery space for about 20 minutes. When I walked out of there, I felt as good as new — like a million bucks.”
One Wall Street will be the first Life Time in New York City to have LT Recovery, which will be located near the bank vaults in the space. “It’s a unique juxtaposition, with the historical feature and modern-technology recovery tools. I can only imagine sitting on the stretch table in the Normatech sleeves soaking in the atmosphere of this historic club. I would say that’s pretty iconic.”
Whether before or after club use or for a grab-and-go lunch, swing by the LifeCafe for a nutritious shake or meal. “Having access to a perfectly balanced protein shake or something simple like an avocado and turkey sandwich that’s made with high-quality ingredients is a convenient option any time hunger strikes,” says Spiegel.
The menu is curated by Ryan Dodge, executive chef of Life Time’s LifeCafes nationwide. One offering unique to this location is the Housemade Pastrami Sandwich on pumpernickel bread. “New York City is the origin of the pastrami sandwich,” says Dodge. “What makes this sandwich unique is the simplicity and quality of the ingredients.”
