Life Time One Wall Street — the first of four new athletic country clubs opening in New York City this year — welcomed members in early this month. Life Time’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Bahram Akradi, walked through the club with Cheddar News’ Shannon LaNier, talking about the experience members can expect there — as well as what he’s seeing in terms of customer wants and needs and why an omnichannel approach to health and fitness is essential.
When we started the company, we wanted to create an environment that would be inviting, educational, functional, friendly, and that would satisfy the health and needs of everyone from 90 days to 90 years old. Our commitment was to do everything from the member point of view. I can proudly say that our entire organization has never lost those commitments.
Everything we do is experiential in nature; we want to create an experience that brings you back. Our vision has always been to deliver a whole healthy way of life, including every aspect of healthy living: healthy aging, nutrition, exercise — a complete atmosphere that you really want to be in.
The focus is to make sure you get everything you want in one place. It’s really a place that the whole family can feel like, “This is my athletic country club.”
