Planning workouts isn’t for everyone: Perhaps you’re too busy, uncertain of how to get the results you’re after, or are simply uninterested in spending time mapping out sets, reps, and rest. The good news is, whether you’re new to fitness or just don’t want to overthink every workout, Life Time offers many ways to stay active that require minimal mental lift.

We rounded up several of those options to help you engage in a solid workout routine without any planning. All you have to do is either show up at the club or open your Life Time app.

Signature Group Training

At Life Time, you’ll find several signature group training program options that pair the effectiveness of a science-backed plan with the motivation that arises from a group setting under the direction of a coach.

The options — GTX, Alpha, Ultra Fit, and MB360 — offer something for all interests and goals. GTX is a 50/50 blend of cardio and strength work; Alpha is focused on Olympic weightlifting and metabolic conditioning; Ultra Fit offers sprint-interval training combined with balance and strength efforts; and MB360 is a mind-body program that melds meditation and mobility work with functional strength and conditioning exercises.

“Signature group training is Life Time’s middle ground between working out on your own and working with a personal trainer,” explains Wes Robertson, senior classes operations manager. “These programs are for everyone; it’s all about finding the format that works best for you and building your routine from there. No matter which format you choose, there’s a dedicated coach who will take you through a challenging workout in a group setting.”

These classes are programmed by fitness professionals to keep you feeling challenged and help you continue seeing results. Once you’re in class, a coach will guide you through the workout and customize it to your needs. If you require modifications for a certain move or need encouragement to pick up heavier weights, your coach is there for you.

“It’s like having a personal trainer program workouts for you,” says Sydney Kaye, group training coach at Life Time in Edina, Minn. “Each format consists of science-backed programming — similar to how a personal trainer would design workouts to keep you progressing — only you’re doing it in a group setting.”

Studio Classes

Also on the schedule at Life Time are hundreds of group fitness classes each week with options for everyone from beginners to seasoned fitness enthusiasts. Class possibilities include strength, cardio, yoga, barre, indoor cycle, boxing and kickboxing, and dance. There are enough choices to pique all interests, add variety, and build a well-rounded regimen.

“Our studio classes serve a wide range of fitness abilities and goals, and each class is guided by a certified fitness professional,” says Emma Graves, class collection brand specialist and Dynamic Personal Trainer at Life Time in Chicago. “These classes are uniquely designed to be perfect for beginners, while also giving fitness veterans ample opportunities to push themselves and continue to level up.”

With all of the available class options, it’s easy to mix and match them to create a weekly routine that works for you. For those who prefer to follow a pre-made plan, Graves built this seven-day guide to starting a classes-based workout routine at your athletic country club.

If you can’t make it to the club, there are also on-demand and live-stream classes available in the Life Time app. New on-demand classes are added every week and live-stream classes are available every day.

Just Ask L•AI•C

In the Life Time app, L•AI•C (pronounced “lay-see”) is Life Time’s AI companion that can help you create workouts that match your interests, needs, and goals. The workouts are all designed by Life Time fitness professionals.

You can also search for workouts by select coaches or routines that target specific body parts. For example, if you’re looking for an upper-body strength workout, simply search “upper-body strength workout” and several options will appear. Other search examples might include, “Help me find an exercise for my biceps,” “Find me a program to increase body tone,” “Give me a workout from Jessie,” or “Tell me how to use the lat pull-down machine.”

You can even ask L•AI•C to build the type of workout you want and then add it directly to your app so you can track reps, sets, and weights, as well as monitor your progress. You can schedule it for the day that works best for you, too.

Over time, L•AI•C will remember your workout preferences, ensuring that the workouts you’re completing and tracking are relevant to your specific health goals. (Learn more: “Just Ask L•AI•C: Life Time’s Health and Wellness Companion.”)

It’s all planned out for you.

“When it comes to personal training, Life Time’s philosophy involves creating an uncompromised experience and supporting every aspect of a healthy lifestyle,” says Anna Taylor, CPT, Dynamic Personal Trainer at Life Time in Woodbury, Minn. “Our Dynamic Personal Trainers focus on building a relationship with their clients so we can provide the best support, accountability, and motivation for them.” (Learn more: “Achieve Your Fitness Goals With Dynamic Personal Training.”)

Private or Semi-Private Pilates Classes

As fitness experts tout the advantages of low-impact, mobility-forward workouts, the popularity of Pilates continues to rise. And for those looking for guided reformer Pilates workouts, Life Time offers both private and semi-private instruction. All you have to do is walk into the studio; your Pilates workout is fully planned and guided by a certified instructor.

“If you have any interest in Pilates, give it a try!” encourages Theresa Barone, director of Pilates at Life Time. “Our goal at Life Time is to create a positive experience for everybody, no matter your exercise background. Our instructors spend hundreds of hours to become certified and are here to help you reach your goals.

“The two introductory experiences we offer, Discover Pilates and Intro to Pilates, are very calm and welcoming experiences,” she adds. “The door is shut; we’re away from prying eyes. We are just focused on you and your goals.”
