Introducing Aescape at Life Time: A Recovery Experience That Adapts to Your Body

Adaptive body therapy arrives at select LifeSpa locations, bringing a new alternative to traditional massage.

Many of us carry tension in our bodies. It builds through training, desk hours, travel, and stress, and we typically learn to push through it rather than prioritize relief from it. So often recovery gets treated as an occasional reward rather than the work that makes moving well possible.

Aescape, a body intelligence company delivering adaptive body therapy, was built with the intention to change that habit.

Powered by physical AI and robotics, the Aescape experience may most easily be compared to a massage, but is referred to by the company as adaptive body therapy because of the integration of technology to map your body and adapt the session to your needs.

The Aescape table reads where you are holding tension and adjusts pressure in real time. You stay in control of the whole session, including the areas the touchpoints work with pressure, the music, and what you see on screen. The result is a clearer sense of what your body is holding, less accumulated strain, and more readiness for whatever comes next.

“Most people carry chronic, accumulated tension and have quietly accepted it as the cost of a busy life,” says Frank Britt, CEO of Aescape. “It is not that people do not care. It is that there is a lack of accessible, consistent ways to understand what the body is holding and do something about it. That is the category we are building. Adaptive body therapy listens to your body, responds to what it finds, and gets more precise every time you come back.”

To learn more about the adaptive body therapy service Aescape offers at select LifeSpa locations, we asked Britt to answer a few questions about the experience.

Life Time | What is Aescape exactly — and how does it work?

Frank Britt | Aescape is adaptive body therapy. It is precision bodywork that reads your body and adapts to it, on a schedule you control. One session releases the tension you are carrying today. An ongoing practice changes how your body feels and moves over time.

The Aescape table uses sensors to map your body’s contours and read where you are holding tension. That reading builds a blueprint of your muscle and bone structure and shapes the session around it. It captures roughly 1.2 million data points in the process.

The touchpoints that come in contact with your body replicate seven surfaces of the human hand and arm: the knuckle, thumb, cupped hand, blade, palm, forearm, and elbow. Each touchpoint is heated to 95 degrees so the contact feels like hands, not hardware.

Throughout the session, you have full control over the pressure used from the screen in front of you as well as the ability to change the focus areas at any point. You can also change what you see and hear to match your preferences and mood, from a live view of where the touchpoints are working to a forest or an ocean scene.

Aescape has been built from the start with massage therapists and recovery experts. They run the research and design the protocols and options available on the table. The result is a new standard of care. The touchpoints reproduce the pressure and technique of expert hands, and the body scan gives that work a level of precision and repeatability that is difficult to reach any other way.

LT | By bringing Aescape to LifeSpa, what benefits does it offer Life Time members?

FB | Aescape exists to help you feel better, move better, and perform better. Because it’s available inside Life Time, you can use it consistently, and consistency is where the benefit compounds. Your body is not the same on Tuesday as it was on Sunday, so the session should not be either. Aescape maps the tension you are carrying that day and builds the session around it. Training and recovery are the same discipline. One is how you build capacity, the other is how you make it usable.

A session easily fits into your day because it runs 15 to 60 minutes and uses no lotion or oils. You stay fully clothed in a provided Aerwear top and bottom designed to work with the touchpoints.

A short session after training supports recovery. If you train early and want 15 minutes on your legs after leg day, for example, that option is there. You are in and out and on with your day. Bodywork before training works the same way in reverse. If you are heading into pickleball, for instance, you can set the session to prime the areas that activity will ask the most of. That is readiness, and it is the other half of what recovery is for.

You never have to explain what you need out loud. The table reads it, you adjust the pressure as you go, and your body does the talking.

LT | How can an Aescape massage be customized to meet my specific needs?

FB | You are in control the whole time. You start by selecting the areas you want worked. From there a slider lets you raise or lower the pressure at any point, and you can keep adjusting through the entire session.

The scan at the start maps your muscle structure and reads the patterns of tension your body is holding, so the session goes where the work is actually needed rather than where you might have guessed it’s needed.

LT | I’ve never had a massage before — why should I try Aescape?

FB | If you have never done this before, Aescape is one of the easiest places to start. Most people are carrying tension they have never had a way to address, and Aescape does not ask you to know what is wrong before you begin. The scan finds where you are holding strain. You set the pressure, you set the focus areas, and you can change either at any point. You stay fully clothed the whole time and you are in control the whole time.

Sessions at LifeSpa start at around $30 and run as short as 15 minutes, so it is realistic to make this a weekly habit rather than an occasional one.

LT | I get regular massages from a massage therapist — is Aescape something I should try? How does it complement a hands-on massage experience?

FB | It is worth trying, because the two do different jobs. Most people see a massage therapist once a week at best, and more often once a month or less. Aescape makes a higher frequency possible, and frequency is what makes tension release compound. Some members use a 15-minute Aescape session to prime before hands-on work. Others use it in the weeks in between, so they arrive with less to undo.

The scan is the other difference. Because the table reads your body every time, the work adjusts to what has changed since your last session rather than starting from scratch.

LT | Can you walk me through a service? What do I need to know before going in?

FB | At the time of your booked session, a LifeSpa team member shows you to the room with the Aescape table. From there, you choose your sizing and change into the provided form-fitting top and bottom. This outfit lets the touchpoints glide smoothly across your body.

Once you are changed, you lie face down with your head on the headrest and your arms on the armrest. The screen sits below your face. It walks you through a few questions to start, including which areas you want to focus on, and prompts you to adjust the bolster, headrest, and armrest for comfort. The areas you can focus on run from the upper back down through the glutes, hamstrings, and calves.

On the screen you select your visuals and your music. You can watch exactly where the touchpoints are working on your body or choose from several nature scenes. Music runs from nature sounds and lo-fi to current hits and most genres in between. You can adjust the pressure, music, and visuals at any point in the session.

Our main priority is a reliable and safe experience every time. Safety features include a pause function, which lets you temporarily halt a session, and an emergency stop button, so you can end it immediately if you need to.

LT | How do you recommend fitting Aescape into my fitness or wellness routine?

FB | Aescape works best as a practice rather than a one-off, and it fits around the training you are already doing.

Let’s say you strength train and focus on a leg day twice a week: A short session on your glutes and hamstrings afterward keeps that tension from accumulating into the next week.

Or if you’re a runner, for example, a session on your hips and hamstrings before you head out primes you to move well rather than fighting your own body for the first mile. It’s all about your own preferences and needs. And the rhythm matters more than any single session.

LT | How often should I use Aescape to actually feel a difference?

FB | The first experience will show you what the table does. A weekly rhythm is where it starts to change things. A 30- or 60-minute session on a consistent weekly cadence is where the benefit really compounds.

The table remembers your body from session to session, so each one starts from where the last one left off rather than from zero. Tension you have carried for years does not release in an hour, and it does not have to. It releases the way it was built, a little at a time, as long as you keep showing up. One session resets. A practice rebuilds.

LT | I’m ready to try it! What are the steps to booking a service as a Life Time member?

FB | Aescape is currently available at LifeSpa inside Life Time locations in Chanhassen, Minn.; Garden City, N.Y.; Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Las Vegas, Nev.
