Pear-Fig Bites

This easy-to-make appetizer turns in-season pears into a bite-size sharable perfect for holiday gatherings.

  • 1–2 pears
  • 4–6 figs
  • 4-oz. goat cheese
  • Balsamic vinegar to taste
  • Optional toppings: micro arugula, fresh thyme, candied walnuts
STEP 1
Cut off the nubs on each end of the pears. Thinly slice into coins using a mandoline or knife.
STEP 2

STEP 3
On a parchment-lined baking sheet, place each fig coin on top of a pear coin. Add a small dollop of goat cheese.
STEP 4
Turn the broiler on high. Add the baking sheet to the broiler for about five minutes. You want the fruit to be warmed and the goat cheese to start to melt.
STEP 5
Remove from the oven. Add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar to each piece. Top with desired toppings: stack on a piece of micro arugula, a little bit of fresh thyme, and a candied walnut. Serve.
