Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I feel worse than when I started?
During your D.TOX, the toxins that have built up in your body are released into your bloodstream. This sudden increase in toxins can cause you to experience adverse side effects, but these should dissipate within a few days depending on your current health and your body’s toxic load. Here is a list of possible symptoms you may experience during the D.TOX program.
- Decrease OR increase in energy
- Nausea, gas, constipation or diarrhea
- Muscular aches and pains
- Acne, hives, skin rash
- Weight changes
- Body fat loss
- Improved sleep quality
- Improved mental focus/attention/mood
- Less fluid retention/puffiness
- Hot flashes (for women)
- Feeling like a cold or flu is coming on
- Changes in digestive function
Can I continue the program longer than two weeks?
The supplements used in the D.TOX program are safe to use daily and for longer than the two weeks, but two weeks should be enough to adequately detoxify your body.
Will the D.TOX program help me lose weight?
Although the D.TOX program is not a designated weight loss program, many people experience weight loss as a side effect. Toxins are fat-loving, which means they seek out fat cells in which to reside. This is a common reason people struggle with losing weight: more body fat often means a higher toxin load. Effective detoxification programs support our detoxifying organs by assisting in the efficient removal of toxins. Without all of the toxins in the fat, our bodies won’t resist fat loss as much, therefore making weight loss easier for many.
Can I exercise during the program?
We recommend you maintain your current level of exercise. If you are currently exercising very little, don’t jump into a rigorous exercise routine; this can actually diminish the effectiveness of D.TOX because it adds unnecessary stress to your body and organs. If you are used to a demanding exercise routine, we recommend you relax a little more than usual. Or try a workout that puts less stress on your body. The key is to not overdo it while your body is already working hard to rid your body of built-up toxins.
I am soy/gluten/dairy sensitive. Can I do this program?
The ingredients in the D.TOX supplements and the recommended foods are free of soy, gluten and dairy so if you are allergic or sensitive to any of these, you can still complete the program.
What do I do if I am taking prescription medications?
Consult your physician before starting the D.TOX program or any new exercise or nutrition plan.
Can I continue my regular supplement routine during D.TOX?
For the most part, your current supplement routine can stay the same while D.TOXing, with a few minor exceptions below.
|Can be included during D.TOX||Consider holding off while on D.TOX|
How is this program different from other detoxification programs?
Most commercial detox programs only emphasize one organ or organ system. Effective detoxification, however, requires minimizing incoming toxin load as well as supporting ALL organs of detoxification by way of proper nutrition, exercise and lifestyle habits. The Life Time D.TOX program emphasizes this by providing supplements that assist all six organs as well as providing a nutrition, exercise and lifestyle plan that minimizes incoming toxic loads.
What is detoxification?
Detoxification is the body’s way of eliminating toxins that we are exposed to daily. There are several organs that need to be detoxified for effective results; the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin, small intestine, large intestine and gall bladder. The Life Time D.TOX program supports each one.
What is a toxin and where do they come from?
We live in a toxic environment: artificial flavors, colors or preservatives in food; chemicals in the air we breathe; and toxic ingredients from personal care products or containers. Toxins are substances that produce physical, emotional and psychological imbalances in the body. There are two types of toxins: exogenous, which are present in the outside environment, such as chemicals, radiation, heavy metals, electricity and pesticides; and endogenous, which are produced as a result of imbalances in our metabolism and include viruses, free radicals, bacteria in the gut or yeast endotoxins.
How do I know if D.TOX is working?
Although there is no concrete, visible way to know if the D.TOX is working, you will likely start feeling positive results. Some of these may include weight loss, body fat loss, improved sleep quality, improved mental focus, attention and/or mood and less fluid retention.
How long will I have to do this?
The D.TOX program should last from 3 to 6 weeks: one week to prep your body, two weeks to actually detoxify and at least one week (preferably longer) to reintroduce certain foods.
How often should I detoxify?
Ideally, we recommend people detox every three months, but two times a year is a great starting point.
How do the D.TOX supplements work?
The D.TOX Shake Mix is a unique formulation of proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and specialized nutrients and botanicals to help maintain the body’s normal inflammatory response as well as provide phase II liver support from sulforaphane glucosinolate (SGS). Life Time Fiber encourages optimal digestive function and elimination by promoting beneficial microflora/bacterial balance in the gut. It also supports weight loss and helps maintain the body’s normal inflammatory response.
Who should do the D.TOX program?
The best thing about the D.TOX program is that it is beneficial for anyone. Regardless of your end goal, detoxifying can help every individual because it improves your body’s natural functions, making your body more effective as a whole.
Who should NOT do the D.TOX program?
The program is not recommended for the following groups. Always consult your physician before beginning any new nutritional or exercise program.
- Children under the age of 18
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- Anyone with compromised kidney or liver function
- Anyone on medications related to the treatment of cancer
